Resistance accounts for almost all
of the reasons that someone can use the law of attraction and fail because if
you get what you are thinking and feeling, then you get what you're dominantly
thinking about. And if you're like most people, then the vast majority of
things you think about are negative. So, this article seeks to help you learn
to stop resisting by discussing resistance and how to stop doing it.
Very often, you can stop resisting
yourself with a simple change in beliefs. And a great way to approach this is
through affirmations or mantras. For instance, two that worked really well for
me are "anyone would be lucky to be with me because I'm quite a
catch" (attached to this are nine clear reasons why I can believe
this-this latter step is incredibly helpful to get yourself to believe things:
prove it to yourself) and "when people reject my advances, it's the
universe helping me to filter out the people I shouldn't be with quickly and
painlessly" (note the post-hypnotic suggestion that rejection is quick and
painless... ).
However, affirmations are not
always good: if you don't believe them, they have the opposite effect of
reminding you where you're at now. And this is the experience many people have
in anger management classes where the helpful advice is "count to
ten". As you count from one to ten-if you're like me-you feel more and
more agitated. The key is to believe them.
So, if you'd like a surefire way to
believe something, then just do this simple exercise. Think about something
you'd like to be true about yourself-for instance, I'd love to have inner peace.
You can turn that into a mantra like, "I'm always completely
peaceful" or "my inner peace is only dependent upon me".
Then, you need to consider a series
of reasons why this is true about yourself. If you have to stretch things a
bit, then do so-for instance, if your mantra is "I'm extremely
wealthy", then think about all the money that you've made over the years.
Though it's not a lot of money, if you've made $25,000 a year for the last 20
years, then you've earned half a million dollars in your life through working.
And if you absolutely can't think of reasons why this has been true because
it's such a massive change in your life, then think about all the ways that you
can make this true in your life-and make sure to start thinking about how to
add these changes to your life and starting taking those changes as soon as you
can.
Finally, you need to repeat the
mantra to yourself daily and after you say it, run through the reasons why this
is true in your mind and validate them as how you want to act in your daily
life. If you do this, you'll have far more success with mantras than most
people do-don't be like them and use mantras as a way to hold yourself down:
use mantras as a way to elevate yourself to the person that you want to be.
The next place people resist is in
their feelings. They believe they can do something (or do they), but they can't
get themselves to feel like this belief is true. Or they just feel like
something is going to fail. Well, if you feel like it's going to fail, it's
very likely going to fail. So, in order to stop this, you need to change how
you feel about things. A simple way to do this is with Emotional Freedom
Technique (EFT).
What you need to do is take the
negative belief or feeling you have and make it into a statement. For instance,
many people believe that they're unworthy of a relationship and thus never
allow themselves to have one. Their mantra is, "I'm unworthy of
love".
Now, take this negative mantra and
add the phrase "I deeply love and cherish myself". So, it'll sound
like this, "Though I'm unworthy of love, I deeply love and cherish
myself."
Next, say this phrase repeatedly at
a normal pace as you gently tap yourself with one or two fingers in a few
important places: on the bottom of your hand (i.e. the muscle between your
wrist and pinky), your crown chakra, your third eye chakra, your right-hand
cheek bone, a few millimeters below your nose, your chin, your solar plexus,
and your left ribs a little beneath your nipple.
Do this repeatedly throughout your
day. Though it seems goofy at first, it's a great way to program your
unconscious mind if you just give it a try. Go on give it a try.
Finally, we need to discuss a
change in action. In order to really do things in your life, you must act on
it. However, many people studying the law of attraction get hung up on whether
or not something is inspired action or just regular action or them resisting...
and rather than help themselves, they often waste time and resist themselves in
many ways. So, if you desire something and you see a way you can help yourself
to get it, by all means try-how do you know that's not the universe offering it
to you? And every time you pass up the opportunities to get what you want the
universe lines up for you are resisting the universe. But this resisting is
particularly bad as it's like the boy who cried wolf: the universe nor you
believe you can achieve (and sometimes whether or not you even want) your
desires. However, the solution to this type of resistance is easy: act, act,
act, act, act! When you're inspired to act, use that inspiration to get as much
done as possible; however, admit that you'll probably need to work when you
don't want to. And this a great time to use a mantra or EFT to make yourself
feel better about your goals and the processes you have to undergo and do in
order to get what you want.
